What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is a combination of traditional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and modern hypnotherapy techniques. It is a brief, goal-orientated form of therapy in which the therapist works in partnership with the client.
CBH is focused mainly on the present and helps the client to create healthy and realistic alternatives to current problematic thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
CBH offers proven techniques for solving problems. It is based on the philosophy that people are disturbed, not by the events that happen to them, but by the beliefs they hold relating to the events. The therapist works closely with the client to identify any deep-seated, unhelpful beliefs that may lie at the heart of the problem. The therapist and the client then work together to weaken the unhelpful beliefs and to create new helpful beliefs. The new beliefs then create healthier thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Ultimately, CBH helps people to develop a philosophy and approach to living that can increase effectiveness and happiness in all areas of life.
